DSWD Region 2 collaborates with CSU – CIT

The Department of Social Welfare and Development joined hands with the Cagayan State University – College of Industrial Technology through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on April 20, 2017. This joint endeavor aimed at enhancing the skills and competencies of the people of Cagayan in technical and vocational courses.

CIT - Carig Campus being mindful of its responsibility of extending their technical services to individuals and communities started the skills training on May 20, 2017 for fifteen (15) consecutive Saturdays at the CIT laboratory. Areas of concentration in the skills training were the following: automotive technology, practical wiring and electrical technology, electronics technology, welding and metal technology, refrigeration and air-conditioning, garments and beauty care.

Today, 149 trained individuals from the different towns of Cagayan received their certificates of completion in a graduation ceremony held at the Red Eagle Gymnasium. Present during the affair are DSWD Regional Director Ponciana Condoy, VP for Academic Affairs Dr. Mariden Cauilan, VP for RDE Dr. Nelia Cauilan, CEO Dr. Arthur Ibañez, CIT Dean Dr. Aurelio Caldez and the most esteemed CIT faculty who played a very important role in the enhancement and development of skills of the trainees.

Before the graduation ceremony ended, DWSD-Region 2 handed toolkits and other gadgets to the 149 trainees for them to use the acquired skills to serve others and make it profitable.
